Ndatsalapati Msonjama

Ndatsa“lapati Msonjama is a music artist, an entrepreneur, a father, a church elder all rolled into one. He assumed a big responsibility of a choir master at Utotu Woyera Parish for choir 2 in 1994 at a tender age of fourteen. He was then porched from the Parish choir to join Golden Trumpet of Mosintha CCAP in 1996 while he was still pursuing his secondary school education at Salima Secondary School. Msanjama was incorporated into Golden Trumpet for his music writing skills and ability to coordinate music as the group was playing using some two keyboards which were programmed and able to produce different beats and tunes. Among his compositions Ndatsolapati penned, ‘Sunday after Sunday, give fhanks and praise, sungwana wopita’ and these became thé people ’s favorites. Golden Trumpets was mostly invited to curtain raise for such music greats including Chrissie Kanthuzi and sometimes the group performed on weddings. The group also featured highly at Mosintha Church choir festivals in the 1990s. As years passed the group disL›ctnded and everybody else was encouraged to embark on solo careers and in 2001 Ndatsalapoti started recording in the studio. His first studio work was done at MC Studi‘os in Blantyre by Tiwonge Chikusa. In the same year. in 2001 Msanjama compiled his first album called, ‘Amuna onga’ with Chris Kelly and was red one in 2008 with RaIph'Ching’arrrba.
